MYAS RESULTS
The X-Factor 17U team won the 17/19 MYAS tourney at Duluth East.
X Factor faced Barnum in pool play game one. XF led 24-12 at half time and won the game 42-27. 5-11 Megan Strese (Brandon-Evansville) and Hannah Rutten 6-1 (New York Mills) were able to contain Barnum's Meghan Myhre. Strese led the scoring with 14 points.
In pool play game two the X Factor got revenge from a St Cloud tourney loss to the Northern Lights by coasting to a 43-29 win after leading 20-12. The Lights were unable to get anything underneath against Strese, Rutten and Eagle Valleys 5-8 Missy Kassube and were left hoping the three ball would be enough, which it wasn't.
Strese 13, Sebeka's Betsy Olson had 11 and Kassube added 10.
On Sunday in the championship the X-Factor played a combo team of Brainerd and Crosby-Ironton. The Factor led 23-18 and then routed the Warriors by outscoring them in the second half 27-13 for a 50-31 win. Staples-Motley's Caitlyn Robinson played outstanding defense against the Warrior top gun Emily Theising, and the X-Factor pulled down almost every rebound on both ends of the floor. Strese led the scoring with 21.
Other X-Factor team members that received the gold medals were Brooke Simonson and Nikki Pearson (Staples-Motley) Brianna Salathe (Eagle Valley) Sarah VandenHuevel (Bertha-Hewitt).
