This game took place Sunday, April 27
MINNESOTA SEEDING TOURNAMENT
at Bloomington Kennedy
16 Semifinals
MN STARS BOROWICZ 74, METRO STARS WHITE 38

In one of the 16 semis it was MN Stars Borowicz using their size and depth to zip by upset winner Metro Stars White 74-38. The defensive advantage for MSB kept MSW off balance. MSW only had five two point field goals on their initial half court offense. The two huge posts for MSB, Amber Dvorak and Cassie Rochel, combined for 30 points.

MSW scored on the opening tip with Lauren Wittman doing the honors. It was close up to 7-6 when MSB went on an 18-0 run to blow open the game 25-6. The twin towers started the run with 9 of the first 12 points. MSB had a 9/10 offensive sequence as everything was clicking. At half time it was 39-16. Rochel had 10 points by half.

The second half didn't move the score off that margin. In fact MSB added to their margin. The second half Dvorak caught fire with 14 points.

It was unfortunate that the championship was scheduled at the same time as the Miss Basketball banquet. NC Heat beat MSB 52-50 on a last second drive by Tayler Hill.

MN STARS BOROWICZ
STARTERS
Theairra Taylor, St. Paul Central 9, 10, 90.0, .400 makes things look easy. glides. long limbs
Rachelle Eckmann, St. James 2, 5, 40.0, .200 a lunch bucket player doing the grunt work.
Brittany Chambers, Jordan 9, 7, 128.6, .571 point guard. The signature play of this game came when Chambers grabbed a d rebound and in the air cocked the ball behind her ear looking for any MSBer streaking down the floor. That is awareness squared. delivered the ball quickly.
Leah Dietel, Jordan 6, 4, 150.0, .750 steady big perimeter.
Cassie Rochel, Lakeville North 12, 10, 120.0, .700 runs like a deer at 6-4. Velcro for hands.
BENCH
Tyisha Smith, Mpls South 0, 4, 0.0, .000 speedy quick small guard.
Megan Waytashek, Centennial 2, 3, 66.7, .333 lanky perimeter
Kate Thompson, Wayzata 8, 6, 133.3, .667 perimeter with post height 6-2. Moves well and runs the floor also like a deer.
Amber Dvorak, Hinckley-Finlayson 18, 8, 225.0, 1.000 hard to move in the post. is making progress every time I watch her. offensively keeps ball high, has good hands. is learning to play at a higher tempo/speed. If you look at the floor % you notice she was 8/8 1.000. That does not mean she made every shot. It does mean that if she missed either she got the board and scored or someone else got the o board. Defensively her height intimidates. However she needs to be more aggressive on the D boards.
Hannah Linz, Eden Valley-Watkins 3, 2, 150.0, .500 3 point shooter. lefty. her passing is deceptive and quick.
Dani Mangen, Osseo 5, 3, 166.7, .667 small guard delivers big results.

Jodi Batzel, Dover-Eyota 6, 9, 66.7, .333 scored all her points at the line. is in the tweener zone between 3 and 4.
BENCH
Kyana Johnson, St. Paul Central 2, 3, 66.7, .333 point guard
Hanna Iaizzo, White Bear Lake 0, 1, 0.0, .000 post
Karin Gibson, Eden Prairie 0, 9, 0.0, .000 guard. last weekend in Menomonie was stroking. today was ice cold. needs to work on ball handling/passing decisions and becoming more consistent with performance.
